With a specialised focus on crafting premium elastomer-based parts for noise and vibration isolation, shock protection, attenuation, and misalignment, we take pride in delivering excellence in design and manufacturing. As part of our commitment to meeting diverse application needs, we offer a range of impeccable finishings and coatings for our products. Explore our comprehensive selection of dimensional finishing and surface protection options below.
Dimensional Finishing Offered
Self Finish
The self finish involves assembling or stress relieving the parts as a final process before being cleaned and oiled, preparing them for dispatch. This finishing option is suitable for many applications and provides reasonable tolerances of approximately ±0.1mm for both inside and outside diameters for bushes, as standard.
Machined Finish
For applications requiring higher levels of accuracy, we offer a machined finish as a post-molding process. This finishing method allows us to achieve tolerances ranging from ±0.05 to ±0.02mm for inside and outside diameters, ensuring precise dimensions for specific requirements.
Ground/Honed
When the tightest levels of tolerance are essential, we offer the ground/honed finishing option. This involves grinding the outside diameters (either centreless or centred, depending on concentricity requirements) and honing the inside diameters. Tolerances as low as ±0.02mm to ±0.01mm can be achieved with this method.
Coatings and Surface Protections Offered
In addition to the dimensional finishings, we provide various coating options to enhance the performance and durability of our products:
Phosphate and Oil
Primarily used on semi-bonded bushes, this coating increases force requirements for slipping. It also provides temporary rust protection, making it ideal for shipping and short-term storage.
Zinc Plate and Passivate
Zinc plating acts as a sacrificial layer, protecting the material beneath. Passivation further enhances corrosion resistance and can be clear or coloured. The thickness of the zinc plating can range between 5µm – 25µm.
Zinc Nickel
Similar to zinc plating, zinc-nickel reduces galvanic corrosion between steel and aluminium. Unlike zinc plating, zinc nickel does not require passivation for it to have high corrosion resistance.
Anodising Sulphuric/Hard
This option is specifically used on aluminium parts. Anodizing creates a hard layer on the surface that is both wear and corrosion-resistant. It also provides a durable method of applying colour to the aluminium.
Finish Painting
Our finish painting process utilises a black, lead-free, water-based anti-corrosion coating for metals. It is not only free of toxic chromatic anti-corrosive pigments but also avoids the use of harmful solvents, reducing fire hazards. This finish is commonly used in the automotive industry for its robustness and anti-corrosive properties.
Zinga Spray Paint
Zinc spray leaves a sacrificial barrier coating similar to that of galvanised surfaces, providing protection against rust and corrosion.
Hardening
For more extreme applications, steel parts can be hardened and tempered to achieve greater strength, hardness, and toughness. This finishing option ensures our products can withstand harsh conditions and demanding environments.
At Aegis Rubber Engineering, we are committed to providing the highest quality finishings and coatings for our elastomer-based parts, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. If you have specific requirements or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
